On October 7th, I am participating in the Dallas MK5K and One Mile Fun Run event in support of a great organization - The Mary Kay Foundation. The Mary Kay Foundation supports two very important causes, cancers that affect women and violence against women. These causes are very important to me.
Many of you know someone that has been affected by domestic violence or cancer. I lost my sister, Laura Beaulieu, to advanced breast cancer last summer. It's been a year, but feels like yesterday. I hope the research The Mary Kay Foundation sponsors can find the cure for breast cancer.
By participating in this walk, I am also honoring the life and memory of my sister, who was a champion for those with special needs and special education for over 30 years. She started a yearly event, where she taught in Baldwin High School in Kansas, called Mardi Gras Diversity Day to help celebrate those who had different needs and to help everyone learn to appreciate and be aware of others differences. Above all that, she was a wonderful and loving person, a daughter, a sister to me and my siblings, a wife, a mom, a grandma "Nana" and a friend and inspiration to many.
I hope you will help the foundation by sponsoring me. My goal is to raise a minimum of $500! You can click on the "Donate Now" button to make an online donation now. Or better yet, why don't you join me at the event by becoming part of my TEAM - you can register by clicking on the "Join My Team!" button. My Team name is: For Laura with Love The Password is: Bales2017
