In Loving Memory of Independent Senior National Sales Director Emeritus Alma Gaines
Independent Senior National Sales Director Alma Gaines passed away March 27. Alma’s health had been declining, and she was in hospice care at the time of her passing with her daughter, Kay Stebbins, by her side. Services will be Monday, April 1 at 11 a.m. at the Ruebel Funeral Home at 6313 W Markham Street in Little Rock.
Alma was one of our pioneers who began her Mary Kay career January 1, 1964 when the Company was in its infancy. She and her husband Bill, who is now deceased, drove from Arkansas to Dallas to pick up her showcase. She met Mary Kay who gave her a pat on the back and encouraging words, “God bless you, honey; I know you will do well.” And she did!
Initially, Alma thought she had just wasted her $25, but through persistence and trial and error, she climbed the ladder of success. She was the very first Independent Beauty Consultant in Arkansas, and each step on the ladder carried her higher. She set a standard for her unit and eventually for her area and for all of Arkansas that gave opportunity to many who joined her in the journey.
Those who remember Alma are reminded of her kindness and her determination to do her best and to help others achieve their dreams. We are so grateful for women like Alma who helped Mary Kay set the highest standards that are the foundation for this great Company that continues to enrich women’s lives today.
Our hearts go out to Alma’s daughter:
Kay Stebbins
