The Mary Kay family says a solemn goodbye to Independent National Sales Director Emeritus Abbie Webster of Carrollton, Texas, who passed away in the early morning hours of July 12, 2016. Abbie will be remembered for her joyful attitude, desire to help others and positive energy. As the 40th Independent National Sales Director in Mary Kay Company history, Abbie, “the one with the smile,” always believed in Mary Kay Ash’s dream and left a legacy of leadership that still shines today.
Abbie began her Mary Kay journey in April 1967, and became a part of the late Independent Elite Executive National Sales Director Emeritus Dalene White’s legacy. As a single mother in the mid-1960s, Abbie was determined to provide financially for her son, John Allen, while daydreaming of a perfect career that would allow her to be at home. That career became a reality through her Mary Kay business. Abbie quit her job as an executive secretary on a Friday and started working her Mary Kay business full time on the following Monday. Abbie debuted as an Independent Sales Director in January 1978, establishing the Company’s 60th Sales Director unit, just nine months after starting her business.
Eleven years into her dream career, Abbie met and married her husband, John, who initially suggested she quit her business, so she could travel with him. Abbie did not say no instead - she took him to Mary Kay Seminar that year. After that, Abbie said John was a huge fan and never mentioned her quitting again. He supported her in her journey to becoming an Independent National Sales Director, which she achieved in 1983. As a member of the Millionaires Club, Abbie also earned Circle of Achievement four times and proudly debuted as an Independent National Sales Director Emeritus in 1994.
Abbie said Mary Kay Ash herself was there whenever she needed her, and Abbie felt fortunate to have loyal, loving members in her “Abbiecat” Unit and “Good News” Area. She once said, “This is a Company that brings a smile to your face and joy to your heart.” Thank you, Abbie, for always bringing a smile and joy into our lives.
